If photos don't show, then please click on the title of the blog post. The bike is to the side of the image instead of in the center. This means you can see more of the background and more of the shadow of the bike. This means you can see more of the background and more of the shadow of the bike. This makes the image more visually pleasing for the audience. The lights are on the side of the image, like the bike. This also makes the image more visually appealing because you can see more of a blue sky. These flowerpots are on the side of the image. This gives more room for negative space. Negative space makes the image look more interesting because you can see more of the background. This image shows incorrect use of headroom because more if his head is chopped off. There should be a good space between the subject’s head and the top of the shot. The shot feels too compact with his head mostly chopped off. This shows correct use of headspace and doesn’t feel too compact because there is a clear space between the subjects head and the top of the shot. If the subject were walking, it would feel like he was pushing the shot along. It also means the audience cant have a sense of where the subject is walking to. The lawn mower has plenty of space in front of it, as well as plenty of space behind it and we know that its not going to feel like it is pushing the scene along. The talk with Otto was very effective, in my opinion. It made me realise that I want to try and work my way up to be a director or producer. It also made me realise that it doesn't sound as hard as i thought it would be, even though it still is hard.
It was good to listen to a BAFTA award winner about how he got where he is now. He also taught me that it is okay to make mistakes and if you end up doing what you don't want to do then it isn't the end of the world because you can always start over and eventually you will be happy. He reinforced my idea about how you have to keep trying your hardest and eventually you will be noticed in the film industry. Also about how opportunities never show themselves if you don't try yourself. It also made me realise how you can become successful, even starting from nowhere and not even knowing what you want to achieve. He has inspired me and realised that i can achieve big things if i work hard for it. Overall, I think it was a great opportunity to listen to an experienced director about his struggles and triumphs in the industry. It has also given me a couple of ideas about what to and what not to do. When I leave college I hope to become a free lance filmmaker/ videographer. I think it would be an interesting job because you would be able to build your skills from learning from your mistakes. It also would make me feel proud of myself because I could see people happy with something I have created. Free lance also interests me because it looks enjoyable (not particularly easy but interesting). It is a chance to be creative without having to work at a specific time at a specific place everyday. For example, I could set my own hours.
To achieve this, I need to build a good website with a great portfolio of work, which will appeal to customers. I also need to make sure people know why to choose me over other film makers. In other words, I need to appeal to all audiences of people. I also need to build up a good list of contacts or people who represent different companies that I could talk to about creating a contract. The videos that I would focus on is promotional videos and maybe short films if I could find good actors. For a plan B, I shall try to get an apprenticeship somewhere. I understand that it is very difficult to get apprenticeships in some places so I shall start at the bottom, as a runner, and then work my way up showing my skills. The genre of back to the future, according to IMDB, is adventure, comedy and sci-fi. The film does a great job of displaying these genres because of the adventure across time to put things right and fix the timelines. They also make a good job of presenting comedy also because of the story line between Marty and his mother. This story line is very comical because it would never happen in the present time. There was a good storyline of sci-fi also, because the entire story is based about traveling through time via a time machine. The doc's character is also very sci-fi based because he is a scientist and has knowledge about the future.
They also add a sense of romance into this film, because one of the main plots features Marty McFly's parents falling each other again. Many of the conventions of sci-fi and involved in this film, however not very many romance conventions are involved particularly. Adventure is also included, because Marty is exploring through time and solving problems on his journey. Unlike popular adventure films such as Indiana Jones and Stand By Me, it doesn't obviously display conventions. I do however believe that most conventions of adventure are embedded in this film along with features of action.
